The EMI Session Structure

We do not lecture. We facilitate transformation.

Every session follows the same four-phase structure, mapped to a specific paper and past examination question. Nothing is improvised. Nothing is generic. The examiner report informs every decision in the room.

Time Phase What happens
10 min 🔬 Anatomy The examination question is deconstructed from first principles. The examiner’s patterns identified from the official report. Where students characteristically lose marks on this specific paper — and precisely why. Command words dissected. Mark scheme philosophy explained before any solving begins.
15 min ⚙ Drill Live solution, step-by-step. Every decision narrated. Common errors surfaced in real time. Examiner mark scheme revealed at each stage. Mapped to past-paper questions from the student’s specific board. You see exactly what earns marks and what does not — before attempting it yourself.
25 min ✓ Close Students solve. Former examiner marks live. Exam-equivalent pressure. Peer comparison of approaches — this is where the peer learning advantage is most visible. The facilitator identifies which approaches the examiner rewards and which are penalised. Your method is calibrated to the mark scheme in real time.
10 min 💬 Open Forum Your questions from Discord — the highest-voted problems from the cohort answered live. Nothing prepared. The session ends when the most pressing question is resolved. Overnight questions submitted before the session are always included.
Two tracks. One hybrid team.

Join the EMI Facilitator Panel

EMI Masterclasses are co-delivered by two complementary facilitators. Every session brings together hard examiner authority and recent elite academic experience — giving candidates something no single facilitator can deliver alone.

Track A

Former Exam Board Examiners

You have marked papers and read thousands of scripts. You know exactly where candidates lose marks and precisely why. That knowledge — the examiner’s psychological framework for awarding marks — is what EMI is built to transmit.

Your role in the session
  • ◆  Lead ANATOMY — deconstruct the question from the examiner’s perspective
  • ◆  Lead DRILL — narrate the mark-scheme logic step by step
  • ◆  Academic Director and department head coaching of Scholar facilitators

Track B

Russell Group Scholars

You recently navigated the exact papers these candidates are sitting. You know what it feels like to be in that room — and you know what you did differently to earn top grades. That lived experience, paired with the examiner’s authority, is a combination candidates cannot get anywhere else.

Who qualifies
  • ◆  3rd or 4th year undergraduates at a Russell Group university
  • ◆  Masters or PhD candidates at a Russell Group university
  • ◆  Exceptional A-Level results in the subject you wish to facilitate
