This is a distinct qualification, not another GCSE board option — AQA's own Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics, designed to sit alongside GCSE Maths rather than replace it. Worth a look if your child is already strong at GCSE level and likely to continue to A-Level Maths or Further Maths.

Research consistently shows that students benefit from discussing methods, comparing approaches and solving problems collaboratively. When students explain methods to peers, retention increases significantly. Teaching is learning at depth. In our Close phase, you are not just solving — you are articulating your method under peer scrutiny.
Peers working at the same cognitive level identify mistakes that expert tutors — operating at a higher level — sometimes explain past. In a cohort attempting the same question, errors surface from multiple angles simultaneously.
Seeing multiple valid approaches to a single examination question builds the metacognitive flexibility that top grades require. A student who has seen several approaches — and understands why the examiner rewards specific ones — is resilient.
Social commitment to a cohort is stronger than commitment to a weekly tutor appointment. Attendance, preparation, and effort all rise within a peer group working toward the same examination.

Every GCSE facilitator goes through the same five-stage process: Selection, Training, Observation, Student Feedback, and Continuous Review. All facilitators are Enhanced DBS-cleared before they ever lead a Masterclass. This is the same standard applied across every level we teach.
Candidates are screened for subject mastery and the ability to teach exam technique, not just content.
Every facilitator is trained on the EMI workshop method — Anatomy, Drill, Close, Open Forum — before leading a live Masterclass.
New facilitators are observed in live Masterclasss before working independently with a cohort.
Every Masterclass is reviewed against student feedback, feeding directly into facilitator development.
Facilitator performance is tracked over time, not assessed once and left unchecked.
Every facilitator holds an Enhanced DBS check before leading any session involving students under 18.
