Grade thresholds vary by session and, crucially, by which option you sat. AS Level is graded A to E only — there is no A* at AS.

Notice the gap: Option B (Statistics) runs a meaningfully higher boundary than Option A (Mechanics) in this series. The two options are not interchangeable in difficulty.
Mark schemes attach specific meaning to each command word below. Misreading one of these costs marks that working had already earned. These conventions apply identically whether the paper is sat at AS or as part of the full A-Level.
